Magic Johnson shockingly stepped down as Lakers president of basketball operations on April 9.
Despite everything that happened, LeBron remains committed to the franchise and he is hoping that team owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka will be able to make the right moves this summer to make the team better.
On his HBO show "The Shop," James said he was stretching before the game against Portland when he was told Johnson had told the media of his decision. "So it was just weird for him to just be like, 'I'm out of here, ' and not even have no, like, 'Hey, Bron, kiss my ass, I'm gone'".
It was Johnson who played a key role in convincing James to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers a year ago to come to the Lakers with hopes of leading them back to glory days such as eras with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal or the "Showtime" era featuring Johnson.
Johnson recruited LeBron to be part of the process of rebuilding the Lakers. Some reports have surfaced that he was accidentally CC'd on some disparaging emails, leading to his decision to depart and go back to being just a multi-millionaire businessman. "And not even have no like, 'Hey, Bron. kiss my ass".
"I came here to be a part of the Lakers organization [after] having a conversation with Magic", James said. I'm not playing but my team is still playing. Apparently, Johnson didn't tell James ahead of time either. Right now?' It was literally 70 minutes on the clock. I feel like there's a time and place for things, and I believe that you knew you were going to make that decision. While LeBron will probably be around for a while, the Lakers did see more turnover aside from Johnson. He would replace Luke Walton, who has since taken the Kings job after a disappointing 37-45 season in which James and the Lakers missed the playoffs.
The past few weeks of the Los Angeles Lakers' coaching search has created an unlikely alliance in Laker Land. At Year 16, you ain't really supposed to be worrying about no damn process, especially for me because I'm in championship mode all the time ...
