According to TMZ, Kelly actually owes his ex-wife, Drea Kelly, almost $200K in child support, and has until today at 10 AM Central time to pay a minimum of $161,633K or he could be headed back to Cook County Jail. A Cook County, Illinois judge said that Kelly must pay the $161,000 in full in order to be released.
At his bond hearing on the sex abuse cases, the judge denied a request from prosecutors to hold Kelly in jail until he had both posted bond and paid his child support.
Despite all this, it sounds like Kelly's main defense, [which is just him incriminating himself more, to be honest, ] is that her parents "sold" her to him!
"He didn't come here to go to jail", said his publicist, Darryll Johnson, who said Kelly was prepared to pay $50,000 to $60,000.
Joycelyn Savage said Wednesday during a phone call with her parents that she has told them a "million, million times" that she's "OK" where she is and that they "need to stop". His next court date in the matter is set for March 13.
A lawyer for the couple bristled at the allegation, saying Timothy and Jonjelyn Savage never asked for or received money from Kelly.
During his outlandish interview for CBS This Morning, Kelly told host Gayle King that 'I didn't go looking for Joycelyn Savage. But some attorney's, like Brenda Derouen, saw the interview and thought, "What is R. Kelly doing?"
He spent a weekend in jail on the sex charges before being released on $100,000 bail on February 25.
In his first interview since being charged with sexually abusing four people, including three underage girls, R. Kelly says he "didn't do this stuff" and he's "fighting for his life". "Do you hear me?" Johnson said the entire sum wasn't available due to Kelly being unable to work.
The 52-year-old R&B singer left the courtroom with his legal team through a different door than he entered, but his hands weren't cuffed. At one point he looks at the camera and screams that "it's stupid" to think he would hold women against their will given his past. "I sit there and I want to not just pray for my daughter but pray for Mr. Kelly to get some kind of healing".
CBS also plans to air interviews with two women who are now living with Kelly, including one whose parents say she is being held against her will. He was tried in that case and acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008.
He said: "They're lying on me.You can start a rumor about a guy like me or a celebrity just like that. Forget the blogs, forget how you feel about me", Kelly said. Last month he was arrested and charged with a list of sex charges, including the abuse of underage girls.
In his explosive new interview with Gayle King, R. Kelly was very vocal about wanting a better relationship with his kids, all while he owes a whopping child support tab of almost $200,000. "You're killing me, man!"
Kelly has been associated with accusations of abuse, manipulation and inappropriate encounters with girls and young women for more than two decades.
