Pakistan on Tuesday arrested Mufti Abdur Rauf, the brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar, along with 43 other members of banned Islamist outfits in a crackdown.

Last week, the United States, the United Kingdom and France moved a fresh proposal in the UN Security Council to designate Azhar as a global terrorist, a listing that will subject him to global travel ban, asset freeze and arms embargo.

"We won't let anyone use Pakistani soil against anyone so that no force can intervene in Pakistan's domestic issues".

According to sources, the government is also considering to take Masood Azhar into preventive custody, however a final decision in this regard will be taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Those arrested include the brother and son of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) leader Masood Azhar.

India will keep "all options" open in case of another terrorist attack, said one person familiar with the developments-a possible allusion to New Delhi not limiting itself to striking terrorist training camps across the Line of Control.

In June 2018, Pakistan made a high-level political commitment to work with the FATF and APG to strengthen its Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism AML/CFT regime and to address its strategic counter-terrorism financing-related deficiencies by implementing a 10-point action plan to accomplish these objectives.

Responding to a question, Khan said Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaat-ud-Dawa and its charity wing Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation would be banned within 24 hours.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi last week admitted that the JeM chief is in Pakistan and is "very unwell", but said the government can act against him only if India presents "solid" and "inalienable" evidence that can stand in a court of law.

India accuses Pakistan of allowing militant groups to operate on its territory and says Pakistani security agencies played a role in the attack, which was claimed by JeM and killed 40 Indian troops.

At least some of those held are thought to be named in an Indian dossier handed to the Pakistani authorities investigating last month's Pulwama suicide attack.

Officials said 44 suspected militants are in "preventative detention". However, this time, a fresh proposal has been moved by France, the U.S. and the United Kingdom, which will put enormous pressure on China to tag along in declaring the JeM chief as UN-designated global terrorist.

"We have launched a crackdown against proscribed organisations and have taken 44 individuals into custody, including Mufti Abdul Rauf and Hammad Azhar", Afridi told reporters.

Under the UNSC sanctions, designated entities are banned from travel outside the country, face an assets freeze and can't access weapons.
