Burnett received a standing ovation and said in her speech she was "gobsmacked" by the honor, recalling her childhood dreams of becoming an actress and reflecting on how lucky she was to be a part of television history. "It will have been 45 years in September that I am a working actress, and I can not imagine a more wonderful life".
Later in the night, Oh was over the moon when she actually won a Globe, screaming "Oh my God", before adding, "I'm so grateful to my family".
Oh's voice broke and she got more emotional as she thanked her parents.
"I wanted to be here to look out into this audience and witness this moment of change", Oh said.
Across the last decade, Kate Winslet's work in 2008's Revolutionary Road is the category's only victor not to receive a corresponding Oscar nomination, though Winslet's performance in The Reader (which won the Golden Globe in the supporting category) went on to win the Academy Award that year. Next year could be different. The Good Place nominee knows how long these ceremonies can be, so she was sure to get in a good meal beforehand with her husband Dax.
It was the first win for Close in over 10 years, the actress having won in 2008 for her role in TV's Damages. Bradley taught me how to be present, had to work really hard to be this character.
"It is the first studio film with an Asian-American lead since Ghost in the Shell and Aloha", she said. We have our children.
