The White House Christmas decorations have been unveiled.
Mrs. Trump tweeted a video showing her walking among this year's holiday decorations, which also include an ornament emblazoned with the slogan for her child well-being campaign, Be Best. "It's a symbol of valor and bravery". Shots of "Be Best" branded tree ornaments and a wreath constructed entirely out of promotional pencils serve as a nice reminder of that time the first lady launched a (grammatically awkward) policy initiative created to tackle a vaguely defined spectrum of issues, including childhood bullying and opiate abuse. This year's theme is "American Treasures", which honors the unique heritage of America. Since at least Nancy Reagan's time, the first lady has appeared at the press event for the decorations' unveiling. Some served long buffet tables of artisan cheeses, lamb chops and spiked eggnog that would be on the menus of that year's holiday parties.
The buntings and baubles that attracted those two analogies are housed in the White House's East Colonnade.
Sometimes it wasn't all festive. "I hope it will make people think of others and give more to people in need", said the first lady.
"In the East Wing, the Gold Star Family tree returns", the White House statement says.
This holiday season, the White House will host 100 December open houses and receptions, the same as a year ago. The traditional White House gingerbread house was made from 525 pounds of gingerbread dough and depicted the entire Washington Mall.
