Flamboyant boxing star Floyd Mayweather has announced his follow-up fight to last year's outlandish Conor McGregor extravaganza - and this one is even more weird.
Nasukawa is on of Rizin's leading stars, holding a 4-0 MMA record, but being best known as a kickboxer who holds a flawless 27-0 record.
Mayweather is widely regarded as the greatest boxer of his generation but seemingly retired after taking his ideal professional record to 50-0 by defeating UFC star Conor McGregor in August past year.
Speaking at the press conference, Mayweather praised his proposed opponent and provided a glimpse into why he took the bout.
Undefeated and future hall-of-famer Floyd Mayweather will make his MMA debut against an undefeated fighter Tenshin Nasukawa on December 31st at the famed Saitama Super Arena.
"I wanted to do something different", said Mayweather.
"I want to continue coming over here and bringing other fighters so my company can continue to grow and RIZIN can continue to grow. I look forward to taking this worldwide".
Nasukawa has already seen off one former champion boxer, too. "I would probably say this is my biggest event in life so far and I'm very happy this is going to materialize".
"It was a surprise offer, but I accepted with hesitation", he said.
Mayweather had previously talked about potential blockbuster fights with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor and a potential rematch with Manny Pacquiao, but absolutely no-one saw this announcement coming.
"He's young, fast, [has] youth, undefeated like myself, and what the people want is excitement and that's why I chose Japan", Mayweather said.
I am not really sure what to expect, what about you?
"It's always been a goal of mine to go outside the U.S. and go to another arena and display my talent as a professional".
