It turns out that users will lose their cloud saves if they don't renew their subscription, and while NES games will be available offline, some sort of online check-in every seven days will be required. The statement continues, "Some games, such as Fortnite, can be played online without a Nintendo Switch membership".
Offsetting some of this good news about Nintendo's fast-approaching online service, it was recently revealed that in order to play the included NES games offline, players will need to sign in to the online service once a week and check in.
A new phone app also lets players voice chat on certain games. Nintendo's online service, opening from 19 Sept, will cost £3.49 / $3.99 for one month or £17.99 / $19.99 for 12 months.
