After a disappointing start that saw us lose our opening two games against Manchester City and Chelsea, Unai Emery has secured consecutive victories over West Ham and Cardiff City to see us climb in to the top half of the table on six points.
Ozil has become a bit of a conundrum for Emery after the club's highest-paid player got off to a slow start to the season, which was also interrupted by an illness that fuelled rumours of a rift between the two. He can improve, he can do more.
Ozil, 29, has endured a hard start to the new season with the recent national team debacle that saw him declared his unavailability for Germany.
However, he returned for a 3-2 win away to Cardiff before the global break and is expected to keep his place for the trip to St James' Park. But he is feeling like I am feeling.
"We will have a chance, but you are talking about a team with good players", said Benitez.
"I have a very good relationship with Mesut and professionally I push him for improvements to give us the best in his qualities and performances". He could feel different [after quitting Germany] but every day with us I look at him and he looks well and happy, working with our demands. Mesut works very well here.
Emery insists that he has known the Spanish worldwide for a long time, seeing him from close quarters during Monreal's time in Spain with Malaga and Osasuna.
Ozil could play at St James' Park for the first time in his Arsenal career, having missed his side's last three trips to Tyneside.
