Wentz has been recovering from surgery last December to fix a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee.
Pederson finally lost his patience a week ago and remained upset Sunday, accusing reporters of "putting words in (his) mouth" and refusing to publicly name his starter.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Eagles are planning to start Foles - not Wentz - in their season opener against the Falcons on Thursday. Wentz has been doing some work during camp but has still not yet been cleared for contact. The Eagles have chosen their Week 1 starter. If your league starts only one QB per week, hopefully you have someone better than Foles.
"This is still preseason and we're giving all our quarterbacks reps at this time", Pederson said. "I don't want to put my game plan out there for everybody to see it and read it and teams can scheme".
Even more exciting, Clement is expected to take on a much larger role in the backfield this season teaming up with Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles since LeGarrette Blount is no longer in the picture. The six-year veteran started the final three of games of the regular season in 2017 and then led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history.
In his second season previous year after having been the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 draft, Wentz had put himself in the MVP conversation before suffering a severe knee injury in Week 14.
Wentz didn't play in the preseason and only recently returned to full practice. "What's a few (missed) games over 12 to 15 years?"
He also said that if Wentz didn't get the call to start, he would be "kinda" surprised.
