James had just opened a school for underprivileged children in Ohio. Not only is the school created to help students, but it also offers services for struggling families, which include counseling, job placement programs, and a food bank.
That last line presumably refers to Michael Jordan and the neverending debate about whether Jordan or James is the best player in National Basketball Association history.
"I support LeBron James".
The interview with Lemon only made direct mention of Trump at the end of the hour-long interview.
"Rather than criticizing [LeBron James], we should be celebrating him for his charity work and efforts to help kids", Kasich, a frequent critic of the president, tweeted Saturday morning.
I was shocked by how our President responded to Charlottesville.
After Trump's late-night tweet, the internet seethed at him.
"He doesn't understand the power that he has for being the leader of this lovely country", James said.
This tweet comes just days after James opened his remarkable I Promise public school in Akron, Ohio, which was the whole reason for his sit down with Lemon. He followed that up to say he would sit across from Barack Obama.
"Can't believe it!" Trump tweeted in July. "Statues has nothing to do with us now!"
He also, after former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reportedly called him a "moron", challenged his own Cabinet member to an IQ test.
Others chose to point out Trump seemed to have little issue with white athletes, and had also publicly slammed Stephen Curry, LaVar Ball, Colin Kaepernick, and Marshawn Lynch. James has been very critical of Trump even before he joined office so it was only really a matter of time before Trump tweeted something about James.
That campaign appearance probably turned the tide, as Trump didn't always feel so strongly against James.
On the court, James embarks on a new chapter in his career with the L.A. Lakers next season and although the Purple and Gold have curiously filled out their roster, they are expected to make the playoffs in a competitive west.
He suggested that since James no longer resides or represents a swing state in OH and has moved to the state of California which is essentially a lost cause, Trump can say what he feels.
