"Our relationship with Russian Federation has NEVER been worse", Trump tweeted Monday morning, blaming "many years of USA foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!" "Trump just channels his and the Russian Foreign Ministry and RT narrative that it was all Obama's fault". "There is no credibility to Putin's denials, especially in light of the public evidence and our own US intelligence reports".
Just as Putin has long seen a sinister hand behind USA state actions, Trump declared of special counsel Robert Mueller's probe, "That was a total witch hunt".
"Not only were Trump's comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin".
"I called Putin a competitor, and a good competitor he is".
At the closing press conference, Putin, riding high after hosting a successful World Cup, unveiled a gift he'd brought for Trump: a red and white soccer ball, which he tossed to Trump at the neighboring lectern.
