United States retail giant Walmart has come under fire after angry shoppers spotted a T-shirt range being sold on its third-party website calling for Donald Trump to be impeached. One shirt mirrors an anti-Hillary shirt and says "I'm really Donald Trump, don't let this "human" costume fool you", and another reads "Trumpty Dumpty: We need a wall".
Reports indicate "Impeach 45" clothing is made by a number of manufacturers, some of which also produce items featuring with the "Make America Great Again" and "Donald Trump Speaks For Me" slogans. Since Walmart also sells pro-Trump clothing items, perhaps these t-shirts will be justified as a fair and balanced approach by the retailer.
People took to Twitter Tuesday morning to voice their frustration over the situation, tweeting #BoycottWalmart.
A representative for Walmart didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment.
The company said in a statement to ABC: "These items were sold by third party sellers on our open marketplace, and were not offered directly by Walmart".
Walmart's "Impeach 45" apparel causes stir on social media.
But the accusations miss a crucial fact about how Walmart runs its website, or more specifically, its third-party marketplace, where the items appeared. "Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required", after facing massive backlash.
After complaints, custom shirt company Teespring removed the shirt from the site.
